Bensalem Police Officer Stabbed Near Franklin Mills

The officer was wearing a bullet proof vest, which stopped penetration of the knife, according to police.

A Bensalem police officer was stabbed Tuesday afternoon on Woodhaven Road by Franklin Mills, police said. After the encounter, the suspect fled the scene in the officer's police vehicle.

The officer, Michael Jachimski, was wearing a bullet proof vest, which stopped penetration of the knife, according to police.

The officer was conducting an investigation of a pedestrian, who was possibly wanted for escape, when the suspect lunged at the officer with a knife, police said. The Bucks County Courier Times reported that Matthew Miller, 23, of Bensalem has been charged.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the area of Knights Rd and Fairdale Drive and the suspect was apprehended in the area of Chalfont Playground, Bensalem Police said.
 
Police were assisted by Philadelphia Police and the Pennsylvania State Police.
