Chair-Throwing Bank Robber to Plead Guilty

Bensalem police arrested Maurice Ray in a McDonald’s restaurant after he robbed a nearby Fulton Bank.

The homeless man who robbed a Bensalem bank last month has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, according to PhillyBurbs.com.

On Sept. 21, Bensalem police reported that Maurice Ray, 22, with no fixed address, entered the Fulton Bank on Street Road and gave the teller a note demanding money and stating he had a gun. The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of money and Ray fled on foot.

A short time later police observed a cab arrive at the McDonald's on Street Road. According to police, officers entered the restaurant and noticed a male fitting the description. Ray attempted to flee but was pushed back by police. Ray then threw chairs at the officers, including a K-9. After that, officers “tazed” him.

Ray admitted to officers that he robbed the bank, police said.

Ray was charged with robbery and several counts of aggravated assault on police. He has agreed to plead guilty to some charges, but others will be dropped as part of the plea agreement, according to PhillyBurbs.

He remains incarcerated in Bucks County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
