Child Molester Plans Appeals

Walter Meyerle was sentenced to 494.5 to 989 years in prison in January for sexually assaulting more than a dozen children.

The man who was sentenced to 494.5 to 989 years in prison in January for sexually assaulting more than a dozen children plans to file appeals.

The 36-year-old tattoo artist, Walter Meyerle, was in court on Thursday, March 28 after his defense lawyer Stuart Wilder filed motions stating that the two court-appointed lawyers who represented Meyerle during his criminal child molestation case were not fully prepared, PhillyBurbs reported.

Questions arose about whether Wilder was able to ask Meyerle's former lawyers to testify without violating attorney-client privileges, PhillyBurbs reported, which led to a "lengthy recess so Wilder could discuss the matter with Meyerle."

Afterwards, the hearing was called off because Meyerle "decided not to question whether his rights were violated," PhillyBurbs wrote, but that there will be later appeals.

Meyerle was found guilty in August 2012 of 170 counts of molesting male and female children from the late 1990s until 2010. The molestations took place in Bensalem, Bristol Borough, Bristol Township and Falls.
