Contractor Took Money, Failed to Do Work, Police Say

A Bensalem man has been arrested and charged with four felony counts after allegedly taking a homeowner's money and failing to perform work.

A 48-year-old Bensalem man allegedly took more than $2,000 in payment to install a patio, but failed to perform the work, Bensalem Police allege.

Jeffrey White, of the 4400 block of Yates Road East, was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception – false impression, receiving stolen property and deceptive or fraudulent business practices, all felony offenses.

Police allege that White contracted with a Limerick, Montgomery County man in October to install an EP Henry block patio at his home. The homeowner gave White a $500 cash deposit and made “several other” cash deposits, totaling $2,020, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
