Dentist Who Traveled to Bensalem for Sex With Minor Sentenced

Jon J. Lackner, 48, of Cherry Hill, N.J., was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A New Jersey dentist, who was convicted of traveling to Bensalem with intent to have sex with a minor, was sentenced by a federal judge to 15 years in jail Tuesday.

Jon J. Lackner, 48, of Cherry Hill, was convicted last year of traveling from New Jersey to Bensalem in March 2009 to have sex with a minor and for manufacturing and possessing child pornography, according to the FBI.

Tuesday in court, Lackner also plead guilty to additional counts of manufacturing and possessing child pornography. Those additional charges were related to a 2007 incident where the 48-year-old used a minor to produce visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct, the FBI stated.

Federal Judge Petrese Tucker also ordered Lackner to pay a $1,500 fine and ruled the former dentist will receive five years of supervised release and a $500 special assessment, in addition to 15 years in prison, a media release stated.

Between 2008 and 2009, Lackner used his computer, a web camera, the Internet, the mail, and a cell phone to attempt to induce a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity; he traveled with intent to have sex with a minor; and attempted to transfer obscene material of himself to a minor in Pennsylvania, the FBI reported.

Lackner practiced dentistry in Vineland, N.J. He was taken into custody at his office in 2009, Gloucester Township Patch .

The case against Lackner was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Natali. Authorities from the FBI, Bensalem police, Cherry Hill police and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office investigated the case.
