Ex-Cop Sentenced for Sex Assault

Michael Marren faces up to three years in prison.

Former Bensalem police officer Michael Marren was sentenced in Bucks County court for sexual assault.

According to a story on PhillyBurbs.com, Marren, 42, will serve 1½ to three years in state prison for the aggravated indecent assault of a 23-year-old work associate in March 2010.

The story stated Marren was found guilty in December of attacking the woman in the township rescue squad, where he was a paramedic and was a volunteer. The incident occurred after a night of drinking.

While a member of the Bensalem police, Marren served as head of the department's Special Victim's Unit, which handles crimes involving sexual assault.
