Accused Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run Heads to Trial

The driver who turned himself in after a fatal hit-and-run accident in February, according to Bensalem Police, will be heading to court.

The man who turned himself in after a Feb. 12 hit-and-run accident that killed at 71-year-old pedestrian will head to court.

Mario Rodriguez-Morales, 40, of the 2900 block of Knights Road, who Bensalem police said turned himself in after leaving the scene of a fatal hit-and-run accident made a brief court appearance on Friday, according to an article of PhillyBurbs.

The article said Rodriguez-Morales waived to county court charges including accidents involving death or personal injury, involuntary manslaughter and summary traffic offenses in relation to the fatal February accident.

Bensalem Patch previously reported that Rodriguez-Morales left the scene of a hit-and-run at Knights Road just north of Dunksferry Road that killed a pedestrian, according to police. The victim was identified as Madanago Bakthavatchalu, a 71-year-old resident of the 2500 block of Knight Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Bensalem Police Department.
