Fire Damages Trevose Newspaper Building

Firefighters responded to a blaze at a building on Metropolitan Drive that housed the production department of Broad Street Media, publisher of the Northeast Times, Star and Wire newspapers.

 

On Sunday night, the Trevose, Nottingham, Feasterville and Lower Southampton fire companies responded to a blaze at newspaper building in Trevose.

Bensalem Battalion Chief Robert Sponheimer told Patch that firefighters were dispatched to 2512 Metropolitan Drive at 10:30 p.m. for a report of a building fire. He said motorists on the nearby Pennsylvania Turnpike reported the fire.

“Upon arrival crews discovered a fire on the exterior of the building that extended into the roof and rear section of the building,” he explained. “The incident was placed under control at 10:52 pm and no injuries were reported.”

An article on bsmphilly.com called the fire “suspicious.” It reported that the building was home to the production department of Broad Street Media, publisher of the Northeast Times, Star and Wire newspapers. The building sustained smoke and water damage, the report stated.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Bensalem Fire Marshal's Office,” Sponheimer said.
