Four Arrested on Identity Theft Charges

Bensalem police arrested four people on allegations that they used forged checks to buy items at Kohl's.

A group of out-of-state shoppers have been charged with multiple counts of identity theft after Bensalem police investigated a call late Sunday morning about suspicious bevahior at Kohl's department store on Street Road.

Aaron Moultrie, 41, and Ferris Stafford, 24, of Oakland, Calif. and Shynice Collins, 20, of Kokomo, Ind., and Danielle Smith, 31, of Indianapolis remain in county prison, unable to post bail on several counts of identity theft, conspiracy and related charges.

According to the police affidavit, an alert shopper noticed that three people had their credit cards and checks rejected at Kohl's. She called the Bensalem police and described the situation and the man and two women.

Police arrived and found the four people inside a red Cadillac in the Kohl's parking lot, according to the report. Police say that when asked for identification, Moultrie produced a driver's license with the name Daniel Kim Jong.

As officers checked the other IDs, the Kohl's security officer called and alerted them that a security camera showed one of the passengers stuffing something underneath the seat, according to the affidavit.

A search of the belongings and the car resulted in multiple gift cards, debit cards checks and IDs with various names, police say. A receipt showed that $166.75 worth of items were purchased from Kohl's with a check bearing the name Lucinia Poge. According to police, a cookie tin containing razor blades, crazy glue and strips of paper was found underneath one of the seats. 

Police say they also found a plastic bag containing a white powder. Collins claimed the bag held crushed up Tylenol, but a test came back positive for cocaine, according to the report. Drug possession charges have also been filed against Collins.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for June 4 at 9 a.m.
