Gunpoint Robbery Attempted at Bensalem Apartment, Police Say

A Philadelphia man allegedly forced his way into an apartment building and tried to rob one of the residents.

A Philadelphia man forced his way into a Knights Road apartment complex and attempted to rob one of its residents at gunpoint, according to Bensalem Police.

Khalil Ralph Robinson, 21, of the 800 block of Atwood Road, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with a felony count of robbery, as well as misdemeanor charges of making terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, possessing an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.

Bensalem Police allege Robinson rang the doorbell at Creekside Apartments, 2500 Knights Road in Bensalem. When one of the apartment building's occupants went to the door, Robinson was standing with his back to the door, according to court documents. When the victim tapped on the glass to get his attention, police allege that Robinson—clad in a black ski mask—turned around and "forcefully pulled open the main door."

Once inside, Robinson allegedly pulled out a silver handgun, described by the man as a .25 caliber, and told the victim to "give up the money while pointing the gun at his head," according to the police criminal complaint.

Robinson allegedly tapped the man's head several times with the gun, but police said the man was able to push Robinson out of the building.

The man told police that he recognized the gun-wielding man and identified him as Robinson, according to court documents.

Police found a silver handgun with a black handle along the side of Mechanicsville Road, north of Century Lane. The gun was an Ekol Volga, which police said was a starter pistol.

Under questioning, Robinson allegedly admitted to the robbery attempt and to throwing the gun out of the car window when police were following him, according to court documents.

Robinson is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $750,000. He awaits a preliminary hearing on Dec. 11.
