Man Breaks Into Bar For 'Closure' on Alleged Rape, Police Say
Sean Solomon, 20, of Harleysville, and Mike Bergin, 20, of Hatfield, allegedly broke into Finn McCool's in Hatfield, where Solomon sought closure for witnessing an alleged rape there years ago.
A Harleysville man and a Hatfield man, both 20, are each facing felony conspiracy to commit criminal trespassing charges after they were allegedly busted inside the abandoned Finn McCool's bar on Penn Street Sunday afternoon.
But there was a reason, the Harleysville man told police: He walked in on an alleged rape two years ago and returned Sunday to the alleged scene of the crime for closure.
Sean Paul Solomon, of Harleysville, and Michael Benjamin Bergin, of Hatfield, were hit with the above felony charges by Hatfield Township Police. Bergin got additional misdemeanor possession charges for allegedly having marijuana and a pipe, police said.
Per court records, both posted the 10 percent of $5,000 cash bail following a Monday arraignment in Lansdale. Preliminary hearings are set for Oct. 30 for the pair.
According to The Reporter, the two went to Finn McCool's in broad daylight Sunday, where a witness allegedly saw Solomon kicking in a small window and then prying a board off a door.
Solomon—waiving his right to remain silent and without a lawyer, The Reporter said—told police he witnessed a rape on the second floor of the bar and returned to get closure, with Bergin as "moral support."
