Drunken Hit-and-Run Could Get Hatboro Man Up to 6 Months

A Hatboro man pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and fleeing the scene after hitting a pedestrian.

A Hatboro man will serve between 72 hours and six months behind bars for a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian, according to Phillyburbs.com.

Brian S. Refsnider, 55, who was arrested last February following the Feb. 28, 2012 crash, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and fleeing the scene of a crash.

During his sentencing this week, Refsnider's license was suspended for a year and he was ordered to serve three years of probation following parole. In addition, he must pay a $1,000 fine, carry out 36 hours of community service and undergo a substance abuse review and comply with suggested treatment.

At the time of his arrest last year, police said Refsnider struck a pedestrian in the area of 17 S. York Road and fled the scene. He and his vehicle were located by Hatboro Police soon after at his house and he was subsequently arrested. The pedestrian was not seriously injured.

Yep - 72 whopping hours - yet you get 7-15 years for cutting someone's beard off! Fantastic joke of a legal system we have here! I will keep telling people, if you hit someone and you have been drinking, leave the scene as soon as possible! People generally don't pay attention so you will probably get away with it. Police don't really care about it unless you kill someone so you don't have to worry about them actively pursuing you. And even if they do, and you get caught, you will get no more time, for the most part, than you would have gotten had you stayed on scene until law enforcement showed up. The lesson to be learned is to run run run!

There's nothing wrong with our legal system. U sell a bag of heroin and get 40-50 years. U murder someone(s) u can get out in 5 years. What's wrong with that? It's not like u killed a dog.
