Man Arrested in N.J. for Bensalem Robberies

Police say the man robbed a Sunoco on July 1 and a TD Bank on July 3. He was arrested at a motel in Pennsauken with his girlfriend.

Bensalem detectives traveled to a Pennsauken, N.J. motel to arrest a man who allegedly robbed two township businesses in three days, according to a press release sent by the police department.

Nicholas Canterbury, 28, of Park Avenue in Bensalem, has been charged with robbery and related offenses and awaits extradition to Bucks County. Police say that on July 1, the Bensalem man walked in to Watson's Sunoco at Park and Hulmeville roads and implied he had a handgun. He left the store with $200 from the register, according to the report.

Two days later, on July 3, police say Canterbury entered the TD Bank at Hulmeville and Byberry roads and handed the clerk a note demanding money and indicated he had a gun. He fled the scene with another $250, police say.

According to the report, Bensalem detectives tracked down his whereabouts and arrested him at a Pennsauken motel, with assistance by local police. Officers found Canterbury at the motel with his girlfriend, who has also been placed into custody and is currently under investigation.
