A 66-year-old Philadelphia man allegedly sexually assaulted
a 79-year-old resident of a Bensalem age-restricted apartment complex,
according to police.
Douglas Drysdale, whose address is listed on court documents as the 4200 block of Lawndale Street in Philadelphia, was said to be living at Cornwells Heights Senior Apartments on Gravel Pike in Bensalem when he allegedly sexually assaulted a resident of the apartment complex while she slept, according to court documents.
Drysdale was arrested on Dec. 21 and charged with felony counts of aggravated indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault while the victim is unaware or unconscious; as well as misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and indecent assault without consent.
Bensalem Police said Drysdale walked the 79-year-old woman home from a Christmas party on Dec. 17, prior to the alleged assault.
According to court documents, later in the evening, “she was awakened by a male subject on top of her.” After waking, police said the woman saw the man, whom she identified as “Doug,” the son of another resident of the facility “get off of her, pull up his pants and leave the apartment,” according to court documents.
On Dec. 21, the woman was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus where she was examined by a sexual assault nursing examiner. The woman sustained multiple internal and external vaginal abrasions and lacerations, an abrasion on her right breast, bruising on her right hip and a cut on her upper lip, according to the police criminal complaint.
During an interview with police, Drysdale allegedly admitted to being inside the woman’s apartment on Dec. 17 after walking her home. He said she was “highly intoxicated” and “about to pass out,” according to court documents.
Drysdale allegedly told police he rubbed and digitally penetrated the woman’s vagina, according to court records.
He is free after posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail and awaits a preliminary hearing in district court on Jan. 7.
