Man Crashes Car While Trying to Flee, Police Say

An Altoona man who allegedly traded high-grade marijuana and cash for Percocet pills to sell on the street, crashed his vehicle while attempting to get away, according to Bensalem Police.

A 30-year-old Altoona man is behind bars after allegedly buying prescription drugs from an undercover Bensalem Police officer and then crashing his vehicle while attempting to flee.

Larry Finnegan, of the 200 block of Maple Avenue, was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility, both felony charges, stemming from allegedly using his cell phone to arrange a drug deal, according to court documents.

Finnegan was also charged with misdemeanor offenses of possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; tampering with evidence; reckless driving; and eluding police.

Finnegan reportedly met an undercover officer at the Bensalem Appleebee's, 3219 Street Road, where police said he exchanged two ounces of "high end" marijuana and cash for 90 Percocet pills, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Immediately following the alleged drug deal, which police said took place on Oct. 28, Finnegan allegedly ignored the police's lights and sirens and "sped away," according to court documents.

While attempting to flee, Finnegan crashed his vehicle into another vehicle on Street Road, causing his vehicle to be disabled, according to police.

The pills recovered from Finnegan's car were wet, according to court documents and police said Finnegan admitted that he put the pills in his mouth, but had to spit them out because his mouth was dry.

Finnegan is being held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $25,000 cash bail. He awaits a preliminary hearing this week.
