Man Wore Open-Face Mask During Robbery Attempt, Police Say

A Bensalem man allegedly attempted to rob the Street Road 7-Eleven store at knifepoint.

A 55-year-old man who police say showed up at the 7-Eleven drunk and wearing a mask that exposed his face during an attempted robbery is behind bars. 

Angel Luis Delgado, of Creekside Apartments on Knights Road in Bensalem, was arrested on Oct. 16 and charged with a felony count of robbery, as well as misdemeanor offenses of possessing an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault for allegedly making threatening gestures to stab with a serrated knife and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. 

Delgado, who according to court documents had glassy, bloodshot eyes at the time of his arrest, was also charged with public drunkenness, a summary offense.

Bensalem Police allege that a knife-wielding Delgado attempted to rob the 7-Eleven store at 2364 Street Road on the evening of Oct. 16. 

Soon after the alleged heist attempt, police located Delgado nearby in the area of Knights and Dunksferry roads.

A knife, hooded sweatshirt and open faced mask recovered by K-9 in the area of the convenience store, according to court documents. 

“The mask that Delgado was wearing had an open face and the witness stated that he could see the actor’s eyes nose and mouth area," police wrote in the affidavit of probable cause. 

Delgado is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $75,000 bail. He awaits a preliminary hearing next month.
