Motorcyclist Arrested After High Speed Chase, Crash

A Morrisville man faces fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment, DUI, speeding and related traffic charges.

 

On Aug. 10 at 8 p.m., observed a speeding motorcycle on I-95 northbound near Exit 41 in Middletown Township.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding, it fled northbound at speeds over 120 mph. Police stopped the pursuit near Exit 44 due to safety of other motorists.

The motorcycle continued speeding and passing other vehicles in the right shoulder. It then attempted to take Exit 46A but failed to negotiate the curve and struck the guide rail on the left shoulder.

The driver, Whitney W. Stauffer, 35, of Morrisville, was thrown from the motorcycle and landed over the guiderail

He was transported to St. Mary Medical Center by Penndel Middletown Medics.

Stauffer is being charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment, DUI, speeding and related traffic offenses.

Trooper Varghese is handling the crash investigation and Trooper Irwin is filing the charges.
