Neighbor's Alleged Change Theft No Small Coin, Police Say

A Morrisville man has been charged in connection with burglaries at a Bensalem residence.

Residents watching their home being burglarized from a remote security system helped Bensalem Police track down the alleged thief.

William P. Pomerantz, 43, of Waterford Road in Morrisville, was charged with six felonies and six misdemeanors stemming from his alleged burglary of a Bensalem residence located on Winding Brook Drive on Oct. 14.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Pomerantz was the upstairs neighbor of the victims.

In the video surveillance shown to police, the burglar–described as a white male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and shorts and having dark hair and a beard–is seen climbing through the residence's bedroom window, walking through the home and taking coins from the change jars, according to court documents.

The victims estimated the theft amount to be $1,500 "over the past and present incidents," according to police. Court records do not specify how many alleged burglaries occurred at the residence.

Pomerantz is being held in Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail. He awaits a preliminary hearing in district court next week.
