Infant Death Gets Parents Up to Two Years

The parents of a baby who died after ingesting heroin in a Bensalem motel room last July were sentenced to prison.

Colleen Gallagher, 26, and Thomas Krolikowski, 22, both of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty before Judge Albert Cepparulo to charges of child endangerment, recklessly endangering another person and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to reports from PhillyBurbs.

Gallagher was sentenced to nine to 23 months in county prison followed by a year of probation, PhillyBurbs reported. While Krolikowski, who was on probation when he committed the crime, was sentenced to a one- to two-year state prison sentence followed by two years of probation.

Patch previously reported in July 2012, that Bensalem police were investigating the death of an 8-month-old boy who was found unconscious and unresponsive at a Lincoln Avenue motel. The baby was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police found items associated with heroin use in the room at Neshaminy Motor Inn, and an autopsy showed that the baby had heroin in his body, according to PhillyBurbs. Experts could not definitively say what caused the 8-month-old's death.
