Police Apprehend Bank Robbery Suspect

Philadelphia man charged with robbing Bank of America on Street Road.

On Nov. 12 at 9:40 a.m., Andres Acosta, 20, of the 3100 block of Stirling Street, Philadelphia, entered the Bank of America at 2817 Street Road.

According to police, he handed the teller a demand note and indicated he had a gun by pulling up his shirt displaying what appeared to be a handgun.

Acosta was given undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank to a near-by development.

Police observed a male fitting the description enter a cab. Police stopped the cab and detained Acosta. While taking him out of the cab, money was observed falling out of his pockets, police said.

He was taken into custody charged with robbery and related charges.

The item used to indicate a gun was in fact a black cell phone.

Acosta was arraigned by Judge Kelly and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $200,000 or 10 percent bail.
