Police Nab Funeral Home Thieves

Bensalem and Philadelphia police work together to locate two men stealing iron furniture in surveillance video.

today shared the surveillance video of two men stealing iron furniture from the with Philadelphia police.

The cooperation quickly paid off.

Through investigation, Philadelphia detectives determined the identification of the driver of the Ford pickup truck as Richard Smolda, 42, of the 4200 block of Salem Street, Philadelphia.

Philadelphia and Bensalem detectives went to Smolda’s residence where they located him and the passenger Daniel Crozier, 22, who was also living there. 

Smolda subsequently directed police to the 4300 block of Orchard Street where the five wrought iron chairs were sitting curbside covered by a tarp.

Smolda admitted to stealing the furniture with Crozier on on June 1.

Smolda is being held by Bensalem police awaiting arraignment. Crozier is being detained in Philadelphia on this case as well as warrant for parole violation.

Police said it is unknown if these suspects are involved with other thefts.
