Police Officer Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver From Levittown

John Leck Jr., allegedly drunk and driving the wrong way on I-95, struck and killed a highway patrol officer Sunday morning, according to reports.

 A CBS Philly news report indicates that a 23-year veteran of the Highway Patrol was killed this morning when a driver from Levittown, driving the wrong way on I-95, struck the officers motorcycle.

According to the report, Police Officer Brian Lorenzo was on his way home at 3:15 a.m., when John Leck Jr, 48, of Levittown – allegedly driving under the influence – hit Lorenzo at high speed near the Cottman Avenue exit.

Lorenzo was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a Philadelphia Police press release, Leck will be charged with Homicide by vehicle, DUI and related offenses. Leck was admitted at Aria Torresdale Hospital in stable condition.
