Police Respond to Fatal Motorcycle Accident

A Philadelphia man died when his motorcycle crashed on Route 1 at the Pa. Turnpike interchange.

On Oct. 16 at approximately 5 p.m., Bensalem police responded to an accident southbound Route 1 at the Pa. Turnpike exchange.

Investigation found that a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling on Route 1 towards Philadelphia when the driver attempted a lane change, lost control and was ejected and thrown from the motorcycle.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Daniel Manela, of the 9000 block of Cargill Lane, Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Manela was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol and/or drugs don't appear to be a factor in the accident, police said.
