St. Patty’s Day DUI Checkpoint Yields Four Drunk Driving Arrests

Also produced 143 vehicle stops, 16 summary traffic citations, four underage drinking citations and 23 written warnings.

Some people partied too much on St. Patty’s Day.

From 10 p.m. on March 17 until 3 a.m. on March 18, conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Route 413 just south of Route 213 in Langhorne.

According to a release, the checkpoint resulted in 143 vehicle stops, four DUI arrests, 16 summary traffic citations, four underage drinking citations and 23 written warnings.

One of the drunk driving arrests was Laura Roesser, 42, of Huntington Valley, who entered the interview area of the checkpoint and was determined to be under the influence.  Trooper Christopher Nacios investigated the incident.

In checkpoints, troopers systematically stop vehicles and briefly observe drivers for signs normally associated with impairment.

The goal of checkpoints is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related fatal and serious crashes and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on state highways, the release stated.

In a related matter, state police stopped a speeding vehicle driven by Jeffrey Lucini, 24, of Levittown, on I-95 at milepost 34.8 on March 18 at 2:07 a.m. Lucini was determined to be intoxicated. He was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for blood tests, processed and released. Trooper Oliverio investigated the incident.
