State Police Report Accidents Caused by Animals, Drunk Drivers, Theft

Incidents involved individuals from Bristol, Bensalem, Philadelphia and Newtown.

Between Feb. 25 and Feb. 28, State Police troopers from the reported the following incidents:

On Feb. 25 at 6:45 a.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle accident just south of Exit 46 at Route 1. The driver, Stephanie Dowling, 22, of Bristol, lost control of her 2002 Mercury Mountaineer when she noticed a spider hanging in her view. The vehicle crossed several lanes of travel and veered into the left median striking a guide wire where it came to rest. The vehicle and guide wires sustained damage. Dowling was not injured. She was cited for a lane violation and for not wearing her seatbelt. Trooper Andrew Hartnett investigated this crash.

On Feb. 26, troopers responded to the Bensalem Park and Ride for a reported theft of a catalectic converter from a silver, 2008 Toyota Rav-4. The theft occurred sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Trooper Joseph Krut investigated this incident.

On Feb. 27 at 2:17 a.m., state police stopped Roderick Stuart Roden, 29, of Bensalem, for a traffic violation on I-95 at milepost 37.9. Upon investigation, Roden was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for DUI; transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for blood alcohol content testing; processed at the Trevose station; and released. Charges in district court are pending BAC testing.

On Feb. 27 at 11:47 a.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on I-95 at milepost 49.9. Police said a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria traveling northbound struck a deer in the left lane before coming to rest in the center grass median. The driver Djamel Serir, 42, of Philadelphia, was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center by Penndel/Middletown EMS for unknown injuries.

On Feb. 28 at 1:56 a.m., troopers stopped Stephen Young Lee, 27, of Newtown, for traffic violations. Upon investigation, Lee was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for DUI; transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for blood alcohol content testing; processed at the Trevose station; and released. Charges in district court are pending BAC testing.
