State Police Report Assault, DUI

Between July 4-6, responded to the following incidents:

On July 4 at 8:37 a.m., state police responded to a simple assault on I-95 northbound near the Cornwell Heights Park and Ride in Bensalem. Police said a 46-year-old male and a 27-year-old female, both from Williamsport, were in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. The female victim was struck in the face and head multiple times with a closed fist resulting in swelling and lacerations to the victim’s face and head. She was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing. Witnesses are asked to contact state police at 215-942-3900. On July 6 at 1:23 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle on I-95 northbound at milepost 37.9 in Bensalem. The driver, Anthony R. Sauppe, 32, of Yardley, was found to be under the influence. He faces DUI charges in district court. Trooper Brandon Horlacher investigated the incident.
