State Police Report Thefts, Accidents, Counterfeit Money, Assault

Incidents occurred in Parx Casino, on I-95 and in Hulmeville.

On Feb. 21-22, State Police from the responded to the following incidents:

On Feb. 21 at 2:15 a.m., Omar Catlak, 40, of Turkey, was accused of theft by deception for capping or adding $25 chips to winning bets at on two occasions. Catlak made restitution of $100 and was permanently evicted from the casino.

On Feb. 21 at 3:40 a.m., a vehicle full of teens was involved in an accident on I-95 near Exit 44. The vehicle, driven by Edwin Mentee, 19, of Trenton, left the roadway and traveled about 430 feet in the grassy area before striking a steel pole. Mentee and three passengers were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital and one passenger was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital. The following agencies assisted: Middletown Police Department, Penndel-Middletown EMS, Bucks County EMS and Middletown Fire Department. The crash remains under investigation, according to police.

On Feb. 21 at 1:37 p.m., an unnamed suspect picked up an 85-year-old male’s wallet from a slot machine chair and removed $230 before having his unsuspected friend turn in the wallet to casino personnel. The suspect was apprehended, state police said.

On Feb. 21 at 6:35 p.m., an unnamed 51-year-old casino patron attempted to exchange a counterfeit $20 bill at Parx Casino. The investigation is ongoing.

On Feb. 22 at 6:48 a.m., troopers responded to a one-vehicle accident on I-95 at Exit 40. The vehicle, driven by Jonathan Lambeck, 21, of Morrisville, left the roadway off the ramp and traveled through a grassy area before striking a concrete wall on its backend. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Lambeck was cited for a lane violation.

On Feb. 22 at 8:21 a.m., troopers responded to 2 Michelle Court, Hulmeville, for a reported domestic incident. Julia Marie Olender, 30, was charged with simple assault and harassment. Police said the victim, Robert Olender, 34, sustained several visible scratches during the incident. The suspect was released to a friend pending a preliminary hearing at a later date.
