Tire Slashing Paperboy Arrested

Bensalem police have arrested 18-year-old paperboy for slashing numerous tires in Bensalem.

 

arrested Jason Knapp, 18, of the 2200 block of David Drive in Bristol and charged him with felony criminal mischief and related offenses for slashing the tires of 22 different vehicles in various residential locations.

According to police, Knapp stated he was delivering newspapers for a local newspaper and was upset with people who illegally parked their vehicles and slashed the tires on those vehicles.

Police said they handled 22 different reports of vandalism between June 24-27. They realized the pattern and set up surveillance in several targeted areas.

Within an hour and half of the surveillance, Knapp was observed attempted to slash another vehicle but was arrested. He subsequently confessed to slashing the tires of 22 vehicles. The vandalism consisted of slashed tires to vehicles parked outside of 7 different communities including residential homes and apartment complexes. Most of the vehicles were parked in fire zones and no parking zones.  he total value of the vandalism to the 22 vehicles was reported to be over $5,000 by the vehicle owners.

Knapp was arraigned today before District Judge Leonard Brown and sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000 bail
