Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Amtrak Train in Croydon

A pedestrian who was trespassing was struck and killed by an Amtrak in Croydon Tuesday night, Amtrak officials said.

A pedestrian who was trespassing on train tracks near Croydon was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Tuesday night, an Amtrak official confirmed.

"Train 2175, an Acela Express, struck a trespasser," said Craig Schulz, an Amtrak Media Relations spokesperson. "It was a fatality"

Shulz said the accident happened around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, in the Croydon area of Bucks County.

"But there were no injuries to crew or passengers on board," Schulz said. 

Train 2175 was terminated there, Schulz said, and the passengers moved on to other trains to continue to their destinations. Because of the accident the trains were delayed, with four trains affected he said.

Bristol Township Police are handling the investigation, but were not immediately available for comment.
