Burns said officers pursued the driver, who refused to stop, for a couple of miles down Woodbourne Road, Oxford Valley Road and back onto New Falls Road.

In an attempted to elude police, Burns said the driver pulled into Wells Fargo Bank parking lot and made a U-turn heading in an opposite direction on New Falls Road. That’s when he crashed into the Trooper Joseph Krut’s cruiser.

Krut’s unmarked vehicle was parked in the center median near Plumtree and New Falls Road. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center by Lower Bucks EMS, according to Burns.

The fleeing driver, identified as Steven J. Chiosso, 31, of Maple Shade, was taken into custody in the Nectar Plaza parking lot where his vehicle became disabled. He was also transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center with a severe laceration to his left arm.

Burns said Chiosso faces charges that include speeding, alluding police and aggravated assault. He was expected to be arraigned late Wednesday.

Bristol Township Police Department is handling the criminal investigation while Pennsylvania State Police Trevose is handling the accident investigation.
