Trevose Troopers Report Recent Incidents

Incidents include theft, counterfeit money, drunk driving and traffic violations.

Between Jan. 13 and 17, troopers from the reported the following incidents in Bensalem:

According to a release, state police are investigating a cell phone theft from the that occurred on Jan. 13 between 7 and 9 a.m. State police reported that a 62-year-old male was playing slot machines at different locations within the casino when he accidentally dropped his phone. The phone was picked up by an unknown suspect, who could be charged with theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake.

State police are investigating a counterfeit $10 bill that turned up at Parx Casino on Jan. 15 at 6:05 p.m. According to an incident report, a 70-year-old female patron attempted to exchange the fake sawbuck at the cage cashier window in the casino. The cashier checked the bill, found it to be counterfeit and called security. The bill was seized and turned over to the U.S. Secret Service. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

On Jan. 15 at 2:10 a.m., troopers from the Trevose station stopped Alexander Lurye, 22, of Philadelphia, for a traffic violation on I-95 southbound at Exit 37. Police determined that Lurye was under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Langhorne for a blood sample. Lurye was then transported to the Trevose station, processed and released. He faces charges in , 2404 Byberry Road.

On Jan. 16 at 4:21 p.m., state police investigated a reported theft at Parx Casino. An 87-year-old male slot player had a problem with his machine and left his jacket on the seat while he sought help, police said. During that time, a 46-year-old female suspect sat down at the machine, draping her jacket over the victim’s. After a minute, the suspect left the machine with both jackets. Upon discovering his jacket was gone, the victim reported the incident to security. According to police, when the suspect was searched, officials discovered a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The investigation is ongoing and the suspect faces multiple charges.

On Jan. 17 at 2:44 a.m., state police stopped Rober Joseph Gianfelice, 24, of Bensalem, for speeding and an improper turn on I-95 northbound at mile marker 33. Police said Gianfelice was taken for blood testing. He faces charges to be filed in Judge Leonard J. Brown’s Magisterial District Court.
