Troopers Investigate Funny Money, Drunk Drivers, Hit & Run

The following information was provided by the Pennsylvania State Police Trevose station. It does not imply conviction.

Between March 2-5, investigated the following incidents:

On March 2 just after 3 p.m., state police responded to Parx Casino for a reported forgery/counterfeit bill. Police said a suspected counterfeit $5 bill was discovered during an attempted exchange by a 60-year-old male from Philadelphia at a cashier. Trooper R. Keeys investigated the incident.

State police are investigating an act of criminal mischief that took place in the 300 block of N. Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, between March 3 at 7:30 p.m. and March 4 at 9:30 a.m. The victim reported that someone scratched his two vehicles – a 2010 Jaguar and a 2011 Subaru Forester. The scratches were on the passenger side doors and panels. Total damage was estimated at $3,500. Trooper J. Irwin investigated the incident.

On March 4 at 2:25 a.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle crash on I-95 southbound at milepost 38.5 in Bristol Township. Police said a vehicle driven by Kristopher J. Berr, 27, of Philadelphia, left the roadway and struck an embankment. Berr was found to be intoxicated. He faces DUI charges. Trooper Brandon Horlacher investigated the incident with assistance from Trooper Matthew Thom.

On March 4 at 10:51 p.m., state police responded to for a reported forgery/counterfeit bill. Police said a 61-year-old female from Edgewater, N.J. attempted to exchange a counterfeit $20 bill at a cashier. Trooper H. Beaumont investigated the incident.

On March 5 at 1:36 p.m., state police responded to a hit and run crash at the northbound I-95 off ramp to Route 413 westbound. Police said a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old male from Bryn Mawr was struck on the front passenger side by a 1997 Ford Escort with Pennsylvania registration that fled the scene westbound on Route 413. The driver was described as a male in his sixties with a thin build and grey and black hair. The suspect’s car lost its front bumper at the scene. No injuries were reported. Trooper Erik Sinwich investigated the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 215-942-3500.

On March 5 at 8:36 p.m., state police stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on I-95 at exit 35 in Bensalem.  The driver, Frank Giosa, 52, of Philadelphia, was found to be impaired. He was also found in possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia. He faces DUI and possession charges in district court. Trooper Thomas Geerlof investigated the incident.
