Troopers Report Accidents, DUI Arrests

Accidents included hit & run and texting while driving incidents.

The following information was provided by the Pennsylvania State Police Trevose Station. It does not imply conviction.

Between May 20-24, responded to the following incidents:

On May 20 at 3:05 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle on I-95 northbound near Exit 37 in Bensalem. The driver, Rafael J. Catala, 38, of Levittown, was found to be impaired. He faces DUI charges in district court. Trooper Joseph Krut investigated the incident.

On May 20 at 5:40 p.m., state police responded to a four-vehicle accident on Route 413 near Winchester Avenue in Langhorne. Police said the crash occurred when traffic was stopped at a red light. Jeffrey T. Mele, 19, of Levittown, was distracted by texting and driving. His vehicle struck the second vehicle causing a chain reaction crash involving the third and fourth vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital by Penndel Middletown EMS. Mele was charged with texting while driving.

On May 20 at 10:32 p.m., state police responded to a traffic collision on I-95 northbound at the Exit 40 off ramp in Bristol Township. Police said the crash may have involved a second unidentified red pickup truck. Anyone with information should contact state police at 215-942-3900. On May 23 at 2:12 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle for speeding at milepost 34.8 in Bensalem. The driver, John T. Woods, 29, of Levittown, was found to be intoxicated. He faces DUI charges in district court. Trooper Kevin Lee investigated the incident.

On May 24 at 2:23 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-95 northbound at exit 37.9 in Bensalem. The driver, Jonathan M. Jadico, 26, of Bellemead, NJ, was found to be intoxicated. He faces DUI charges in district court. Trooper Craig Acord investigated the incident.
