Troopers Report Recent Accidents, Arrests

Incidents include child struck, accidents, theft, hit-and-run and multiple DUIs.

Between May 20 and May 22, responded to the following incidents:

On May 20, state police responded to a reported theft from a vehicle at the Cornwells Heights Park and Ride. Police said a 42-year-old male from Philadelphia reported that between 7:45 a.m. and 17:30 p.m. someone cut the catalytic converter from his vehicle. Trooper Tavernier investigated the incident.

On May 20 at 3 p.m., state police responded to a hit-and-run accident on southbound Route 1 at Pennsylvania Avenue in Morrisville. No injuries were reported. The vehicle that fled the scene is described as a dark colored Mercedes sedan. Trooper Robert Richter investigated the incident.

On May 21 at 10:09 a.m., state police responded to a two-vehicle accident on East Winchester Street at Route 413 in Langhorne. Police said one vehicle was stopped at a traffic signal when another vehicle driven by Gerardo Zambelli, 21, of Langhorne, struck it in the left rear. Zambelli was found to be under the influence and in possession of narcotics. He was arrested and given a blood test. He was released pending criminal charges. Trooper Daniel Onisick investigated the incident.

On May 21 at 11:10 a.m., state police responded to a report of a struck pedestrian on Green Street near Watson Avenue in Langhorne. Police said a 5-year-old girl ran into the street between parked cars and was struck by a vehicle driven by William Tropia, 67, of Yardley. The child was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center by Penndel-Middletown EMS for unknown injuries. Police said evidence at the scene showed that Tropia attempted to avoid the child. Trooper Christopher Tavernier investigated the incident.

On May 21 at 1:03 p.m., police responded to a crash on I-95 southbound at Exit 37. During the investigation, police determined that Charles J. Charen, 40, of Philadelphia, was impaired. He was arrested and charged with DUI and various vehicle code violations. Trooper Joseph Krut investigated the incident.

On May 21 at 9:28 p.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on I-95 northbound at milepost 44.3. Police said a vehicle driven by Darryl A. Craig, 24, of Elizabeth, N.J., lost control of his vehicle and drove off the roadway into a tree and shrubbery. He was found to be intoxicated. Craig was arrested for DUI, given a blood test, processed and released. No injuries were reported. Trooper Shaun M. Flynn investigated the release.

On May 22 at 7:35 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle driven by Rachel D. Daulton, 25, of Burlington, N.J. on I-95 northbound at Exit 40. He was charged with DUI, given a blood test, processed and released. Trooper Matthew J. Thom investigated the incident.
