Troopers Report Recent Crashes

Incidents included hit-and-run and alcohol related accidents.

Between May 9 and May 10, responded to the following accidents:

On May 9 at 5:25 p.m., state police responded to a hit-and-run crash on I-95 southbound at milepost 34.1. Police said a silver compact sedan, possibly a Toyota, made an improper lane change striking another vehicle, which then struck the guardrail. The sedan then fled the scene. No injuries were reported. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Thomas Geerlof at (215) 942-3900.

On May 10 at 1:34 p.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on I-95 northbound at milepost 37.7. Police said a driver made a sharp left turn and lost control then overcorrected and slammed into the guardrail, blocking the right lane, which was closed for about 40 minutes following the crash. No injuries were reported. Trooper Thomas Geerlof investigated the incident with assistance by Trooper Oliverio.

On May 10 at 5:36 p.m., state police received numerous calls regarding an erratic driver in a gray Cadillac in the area of I-95 northbound at Exit 40. That vehicle, driven by Michael T. Boyle, 56, of Quakertown, subsequently exited at Route 413 and left the roadway striking a cement wall, knocking over a light pole and finally came to rest. Boyle was trapped inside and had to be extricated. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. Investigation by Trooper Robert Richter is ongoing and charges are pending.
