Troopers Report Recent Incidents

Incidents included hit-and-run crashes, accidents, theft and DUI.

Between June 3 and June 10, responded to the following incidents:

On June 3 at 4:13 p.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle accident on I-95 southbound at milepost 34. Police said a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old female from Bensalem was traveling in the right lane when a tree fell on top of her vehicle. She was transported to Aria Torresdale by Bensalem Medic 187. The lane was closed for about an hour. Trooper Joseph Irwin investigated the incident.

State police at the Trevose station are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle at the Septa Park & Ride at Cornwells Heights. The victim, a 23-year-old female from Chipman, S.C., said the incident occurred between May 27 and June 5. Anyone with information can contact Trooper J. Irwin at (215) 942-3900.

On May 5 at 2:05 a.m., state police investigated a disturbance at Jack’s Bar in . According to police, Jose A. Rivera, 46, of Philadelphia, became combative and refused to leave when asked by casino security. He was placed into custody and issued a citation for public drunkenness. Trooper William Burnett investigated the incident.

On June 5 at 11 a.m., Zeng Biao Liu, 44, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was detained by Parx Casino security on suspicion of theft of a female patron’s purse. Video surveillance confirmed the theft. Liu was processed and transferred to Bensalem police for video arraignment. Trooper Thomas Geerlof investigated the incident.

On June 5 at 11:26 p.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle crash on I-95 northbound at milepost 34.5. Police said a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old male from Yardley drifted onto the left shoulder, overcorrected and lost control. The vehicle struck the guiderail, overturned and caught fire in the engine compartment. The driver was helped from the vehicle by a Good Samaritan. Trooper Kyle Hartman investigated the incident.

On June 9 at 8:25 p.m., state police responded to a one-vehicle crash on I-95 southbound at milepost 38.4 on the Neshaminy Creek Bridge. Police said the vehicle, driven by a 38-year-old male from Philadelphia, swerved and crashed into a concrete bridge rail. There was a heavy windy rain falling at the time, police said. No injuries were reported. Trooper Shaun Flynn investigated the incident.

On June 10 at 2:04 a.m., stopped a vehicle driven by Kyle H. Shaw, 22, of Hamilton, N.J., on I-95 northbound at milepost 37.9 for speeding. He was found to be intoxicated. Shaw was given a blood test, processed and released. He faces DUI charges in district court. Trooper Craig Acord investigated the incident.

On June 10 at 3:07 a.m., state police responded to a hit-and-run crash on eastbound Street Road at the I-95 interchange. A vehicle, described as a large black pickup truck, cut off another vehicle driven by a 32-year-old male from Delran, N.J. causing it to strike the guiderail head on. The pickup truck fled the scene on I-95 southbound. The other driver was transported to Aria Torresdale by Bensalem EMS. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact state police at (215) 942-3900. Trooper Matthew Lopresto investigated the crash with assistance by Trooper Craig Acord.
