Wastewater Plant Cleans Up 600-Gallon Chemical Spill
The Bristol Township Wastewater Treatment Plant in Croydon is being cleaned of 600-gallons of industrial bleach that leaked out of the plant.
Soil in the immediate area of a 600-gallon spill of industrial bleach is being removed at the Bristol Township Wastewater Treatment Plant in Croydon, but the bleach did not get in any water and did it pose a threat to the public, phillyburbs.com reports.
Bristol Township Manager Bill McCauley told Phillyburbs.com that the spill could have been sabotage, and police are investigating the incident. However, the report indicates that the plant had violations over a 12-year period, which the township settled with state and federal Environmental Protection Agencies in 2010.
Councilman Rick Pluta told Phillyburbs on Monday that “throughout the years, sabotage has always been thrown out there as a likely culprit … it was usually determined that it was operator error…”
