Wayne, NJ Police Say Bensalem Man Was Drunken Car Thief

He reportedly stole vehicle out of a driveway on Friday morning.

A Bensalem man was charged with receiving stolen property and driving while intoxicated after he was caught driving a car he stole from a New Jersey home Friday morning, reported.

Jeff Orland, a Wayne resident, reported that his car was stolen out of his driveway shortly after 5 a.m. on Friday, a police report on the incident states.

Officer Raymond Caronia pulled the vehicle over on Executive Drive after it swerved through the intersection at Riverview Drive and Edison Drive, the report states.

The driver, Kishan Patel, of Bensalem, was transported to police headquarters without incident, police reported, noting that Patel was unable to complete full sentences, slurring words. Caronia also repoted smelling "an overwhelming odor" of alcohol on Patel's breath. 

Orland told police that he left the vehicle in his driveway with the keys in the driver’s seat so his daughter would have them when she left the house, the report states. Orland heard the car door close and saw that the car was gone form the driveway, police reported.

At headquarters, Patel blew a .26 on an alcohol breath test, more than three time the legal limit of .08.
