Woman Faces Felony Charges for Alleged Macy's Theft

A New Jersey woman faces a stricter retail theft charge than a man also charged with stealing from a store at the Neshaminy Mall.

A 46-year-old New Jersey woman spent a day behind bars for allegedly stealing $162 worth of merchandise from the Macy's store in Neshaminy Mall.

Bonnie Stevens, of the 2100 block of Route 73, East Township, N.J. was arrested on Saturday and charged with retail theft after Bensalem Police said she stole Macy's merchandise without paying for it.

Also arrested was Joseph Stevens, 57, of the 800 block of Maple Street in Lakehurst, N.J., for allegedly stealing items valued at $91.95.

Both alleged shoplifters were sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Bonnie Stevens, who was charged with a third-degree felony for the alleged theft, remains free after posting bail the following day, while Joseph Stevens remains behind bars.

According to the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, shoplifting charges can be weighted as felony offenses, regardless of the merchandise value, for third offenses.
