A Bensalem woman has been arrested on multiple burglary charges after police say she stole debit cards and valuable items from two separate homes on Neshaminy Valley Drive in the past 30 days.
Laura Abbasi, 44, has been confined to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $25,000 bail after police say she broke into an apartment on Neshaminy Valley Drive on Aug. 15 and stole items including jewelry, two laptop computers and a plastic container holding loose coins, altogether valued at approximately $10,000.
According to police, Abbasi lives in the unit below the victim's apartment. She has also been accused of stealing another neighbor's debit card and using it at Parx Casino.
The criminal complaint says that the victim discovered that more than $900 had been withdrawn from his checking account in a five-hour span on Sept. 4. The victim told police that he gave his ATM card and PIN to Abbasi five weeks prior to withdraw money because he was suffering from a back injury, the report says.
Abbasi returned the card when she finished running the errand, but the victim forgot to change the password, according to police.
The victim's bank confirmed to police that had been withdrawn from an ATM at Parx Casino five separate times between 1:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sept. 4, totaling $911.97. According to police, surveillance footage from Parx shows Abbasi using the card at the ATM machines.
