Young Woman Killed in Accident

Tractor trailer may have gone through red light.

On April 21 at 1:25 p.m., Bensalem police responded to an accident at the intersection of Street Rd and Old Lincoln Highway that turned out to be fatal.

According to a release, preliminary investigation found that a tractor trailer, operated by, Andrew Ziemba, 31, of Meriden, Connecticut, was travelling eastbound on Street Road approaching Old Lincoln Highway. 

Prior to approaching the intersection the traffic light may have turned red for the tractor trailer, police said.

At the same time a green BMW, operated by Danielle Felkner, 21, of Trevose, was travelling north on Old Lincoln Highway approaching Street Road. Upon entering the intersection the BMW drove under the trailer portion of the truck causing the rear wheels to strike the BMW.

As a result Felkner sustained major internal injuries. She was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital then airlifted to Jefferson Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Another passenger of the BMW was also transported to Aria Torresdale for minor injuries but was later released.

The intersection was closed for approximately five hours while the accident was being investigated.

The accident is still under investigation. No drugs or alcohol appear to be a factor in the accident.
