Bensalem Veteran Announces Candidacy for Congress

Kevin Strouse, a Bensalem native and veteran Army Ranger of Iraq and Afghanistan, will run for Congress in Pennsylvania's 8th District.

Former U.S. Army Ranger and Bensalem native Kevin Strouse announced Thursday that he is launching his campaign for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 8th District, according to a press release.

Strouse is a combat veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. After serving three tours of duty in Afghanistan and one in Iraq, he put his experience to use by continuing his service as part of the CIA’s counterterrorism center.

Strouse, a Democrat, believes that the best way to continue serving Southeastern Pennsylvania is by bringing his commitment to public service and his track record of problem-solving in difficult chaotic situations to help fix a dysfunctional Congress, the release said.

“When I was serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, it didn’t matter whether the Ranger next to me was a Democrat or a Republican, all that mattered was that we worked together and got the job done,” Strouse said.

“I've dedicated my life to public service and solving tough challenges and I know Washington can do better at strengthening the middle-class, protecting our national security and creating good paying jobs. The families of the 8th District need leaders who have proven they will work for common-sense solutions, not the broken politics of Washington."
