Cell Tower Applications Delayed But Not Much Longer

T-Mobile looking for alternative location to 700 Bristol Pike, township attorney says.

The Township Council has approved requested continuances for two cell tower applications from T-Mobile. But the council isn't likely to do that again.

Township attorney Joseph Pizzo explained at Tuesday's council meeting that T-Mobile had requested continuances for their applications for antennae atop the building at and a 90-foot tower at 700 Bristol Pike.

Pizzo said the firm wants until council's July 11 session on the Bristol Pike application because it is looking for alternative sites. And he said T-Mobile wants to wait until council's June 27 meeting for the Macy's tower application because it was still waiting for a structural report.

Councilman Ed Kisselback said he was concerned with multiple delays by T-Mobile because of its impact on concerned residents. Pizzo responded, in reference to the Macy's tower, “If not next meeting, then enough is enough” and said the council can either deny the application or ask that it be withdrawn.

The Planning Commission approved both applications in March despite protests from three residents to the Bristol Pike application, which calls for a tower behind Extra Space Storage.

The application for the Macy's site calls for nine antennae to be erected along with six equipment panels, each weighing 1,000 pounds, atop a steel platform. The project engineer told the Planning Board the weight would be carried by the existing columns of the building.
