8th District Candidate Forum

8th District Candidate Forum

Forum to Focus on Medicare, Social Security, Ryan Budget and Economic Justice Issues

LEVITTOWN- Mitt Romney’s choice of Ryan Budget architect, Paul Ryan as his running mate has made Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security a key focus of the 2012 election across the nation. Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional race is no exception with the Keystone State having the 4th largest elderly population in the nation.  On Saturday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m., advocacy groups will host a candidate forum at the United Church of Christ focusing on the future Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, along other economic justice issues affecting middle class and senior voters. The forum is sponsored by PA Working Families, Penn Action and the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Practitioners. Democratic challenger Kathy Boockvar has confirmed her participation. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick has not responded to the invitation as of September 12.
