Facilities Manager to Start Work Next Week

Robert Whartenby will begin as Bensalem's facilities manager next week.

The Bensalem School Board's pick for a new facilities manager–Robert Whartenby–has accepted the position.

Whartenby, who will earn $98,465, will begin work on Feb. 3, according to Susan Phy, who handles the district's school and community relations.

The school board majority approved hiring Whartenby last week, but district officials said they did not know if he would accept the position as his interview had been some months ago and he was not formally offered the position prior to the board meeting.

Whartenby will be the district's first facilities manager since former Facilities Manager Robert Moseley was charged last year–along with 19 others–in connection with more than $1.5 million school district thefts
