Fitzpatrick Holds Town Hall at High School

Congressman said jobs were his number one priority.

U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8th) visited Bensalem last night for a town hall meeting at the .

Dozens of Bucks County residents attended the event.

Fitzpatrick said his number one priority was getting people back to work. He said he wanted to do this by reining in government spending and creating an atmosphere in which small businesses can create jobs.

Fitzpatrick said he’s been working to reduce spending by voting to repeal programs that don’t work including some that were created to help those that had fallen behind on their mortgages.

“In the FHA Refinance Program, the government spent $50 million and has only helped 44 families nationwide,” he said.

During a question and answer period, the congressman took some heat on a variety of issues including government spending and debt, corporate taxes, abortion, continuing resolutions and Obama-Care.

The Bensalem town hall meeting was Fitzpatrick’s fifth since being elected to Congress last year.

Prior to the town hall meeting, Fitzpatrick took some time to meet with members of the Bensalem High School student government.

One of the students was class President and recent Bensalem Patch Whiz Kid Benjamin Zenker who said it was a great opportunity to meet with the local representative to discuss local and national issues.
