Fitzpatrick Supports Continuing Resolution

Congressman urges President Obama to approve Governor Corbett's request for Individual Assistance funding.

U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8th) voted in favor of H.R. 2608, a Continuing Resolution which would provide funding for federal government operations through Nov. 18.

According to a release from the Congressman’s office, this legislation would cut $7 billion from Fiscal Year 2011 spending levels and ensure key government programs continue to operate past the end of the current funding measure which expires on Sept. 30. The Senate rejected this legislation.

"This continuing resolution is important because it continues to fund our national priorities, while reaffirming this Congress’s commitment to reining in our deficits and putting our fiscal house in order…it provides necessary funding to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as we continue to clean up and rebuild from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. Thanks to the savings built into this legislation...we will be able to pay for our recovery efforts today without handing the bill to our children and grandchildren tomorrow,” said Fitzpatrick. “I have called on President Obama to immediately approve and deliver disaster assistance to individuals across the commonwealth and in our district, and I urge Senator Reid to pass legislation funding this assistance today, providing the people of Pennsylvania with access to necessary federal resources.”
