October Slots Revenue at Parx Tops in State

It was slightly off last year's monthly total.

Last week, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported revenue generated through the play of slot machines at state casinos during October held steady compared to the amount generated a year ago.

According to the report, this October’s gross revenue at the 10 operating casinos from slot machine play was $197,174,198 compared to $197,459,415 in October 2010, a difference of just .14 percent.

At , slot revenue was $30.8 million in October 2011 compared to $30.87 or .24 percent less than last year. The Bensalem casino's slot revenue was the highest in the state and $8 million higher that the next highest casino.

The Board noted that revenue this past month was affected negatively due to the severe weather that occurred throughout much of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 29. Saturdays are historically one of the top revenue producing days of the week.

The Board also reported that the amount of tax revenue generated for the Commonwealth from slot machine play during this October was $107,385,386. At Parx, slots generated about $16.8 million in taxes and assessments.

The average number of operating slot machines throughout Pennsylvania at the 10 casinos was 26,546 in October 2011 compared to 26,916 at the casinos in October 2010. At Parx, there were 3,537 machines operating in October 2011.
