Pa. Table Games Generate $81 Million in FY10-11 Taxes

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Monday reported that tax revenue from the play at table games at 10 casinos during the recently completed state fiscal year totaled $81,417,437.

According to a release, it was the first fiscal year annual reporting of table games revenue after this form of legalized gaming was launched at nine casinos from July 8-18, 2010. SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia later added table games when it opened in September 2010.

Under the Gaming Act, 14 percent of the gross revenue from table games is returned to the Commonwealth’s General Fund as tax revenue. That amount generated in the 2010-2011 fiscal year was $71,257,698. 

Additionally, 2 percent of the gross revenue is returned as a local share tax for municipalities and counties which host a casino. The generated amount for that tax totaled $10,159,739 for the fiscal year.

had table game revenue of $90,616,757, which earned $12,825,874 in state taxes and $1,812,335 for Bensalem and Bucks County.

For the month of June, table games produced $49,681,260 in gross revenue, generating $8,026,782 in tax revenue. It was the fourth straight month in which the collected tax revenue exceeded $8 million.
