Safely Dispose of Unwanted, Expired Medications at Drug Take-Back Event

The national 'drug take-back' initiative is on Saturday.

Local businesses and police departments have teamed up with the Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people with unwanted or expired medications can safely dispose of them at the following locations:

  • Giant, 2721 Street Rd.
  • CVS, 3811 Neshaminy Blvd. 

In previous events, more than 2 million pounds of prescription medications have been removed from circulation, according to information provided by the DEA.

"The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications," a release from the administration said.
